why would any good teacher tell a student "no" when they asked if they could read My Sisters Keeper for outside reading? If the point of the assignment is to get you to read a book outside of school, and you were excited about reading it, why would they ever say no?

it's your life

sometimes people worry too much. it's okay if you're not perfect at everything. i say enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff. you should be able to live your life to the fullest- take a different route home (change things up), blast your favorite song and sing at the top of your lungs... who cares if the car next to you is staring? try to be nice to everyone, for you can only be who you are.

i just got back from a relaxing planning weekend for the confirmation retreat that's coming up in April. what a nice getaway to be able to sit around a bon-fire, play sequence (pretty much a game of luck... haha) and sing along with the guitar. thanks to our hosts- they are a talented bunch, especially in the kitchen. our motto: he nice, the jesus.

the first week with a blog is under my belt, and as i look back on the entries i've made, i can only think of how many more there is to come. i think i have appropriately named this work in progress, and i am excited to see what my fingers will produce next.

i told you so

dear eye doctor,
i told you my eyes were feeling irritated, and my contacts were dry. despite your best efforts, it didn't help to perscribe a new type of contact. although "oaisis" sounds appealing, and my eyes could use a vacation from the pain that is my contacts, i'm pretty sure my eyes should not be in the same state they were before this fateful trip to pearle vision only 20 minutes after putting in the new brand. maybe i'll just stick to glasses.

high school?

high school is a questionable phase that everybody goes through.
why do girls always have to go to the bathroom together?
why are there still those few kids that sit by themselves at lunch?
why don't we ever get a snowday?

bilingual on the brain

andy: "so tai, you're pretty good at languages, right?"
tai: "yeah, i know english, french, and spanish"
andy: "so you're like trilingual"
tai: "well i'm not fluent in all 3"
andy: "so 1and1/2-lingual"
(pause while tai tries to figure out how much "lingual" she is)
tai: "no i'm 3/4-lingual"
andy: "tai, that means you barely know english"
tai: "oh! you're right, i guess i'm not very good at languages after all."

words only teachers can use

words only teachers can use and not loose their jobs:
1. "i was too busy watching american idol to grade your quizes"
2. the word "folks" --that word has pretty much been out of existence since the warner brothers cartoon classics... "that's all folks"
