it's hard to be the teacher when you don't know what to say.

the future lies ahead

i find it much easier to tell someone what my plans for the future are if that person has yet to live out their dreams, college plans and ambitions. this is because an adult who has already gone to college and has a job remembers themselves as the wide-eyed, over-achieving, soon-to-be-college student who has their whole life ahead of them and wishes they would have done things differently.
