we aren't grown-ups yet

a sneak peek into the decision making process of the summer's toughest question: where should we go for dinner?
me: "there's that new restaurant, Jimmy's, if you wanna go there."
kerry: "i've been there. it's not very good."
me: "oh well my mom said it was pretty good."
kerry: "it's alright. it's not the type of food for our tastebuds. like i think mine have matured a lot but still, it wasn't very good."
pause
kerry: "ooohhh how about leann chin's."
me: "yeah! that sounds way good."

back to life, back to reality

after a one week hiatus from reality, i am back in the bubble. the mission trip to juarez, mexico was an amazing experience. thanks to mike the christian bus driver, going 95 mph to get down there made the 30 hour bus ride that much more manageable. i had a blast in a whirlwind of laying the foundation of an "addition" onto their one room house for a family with 5 kids and playing with the kids of the community during club de ninos (kids club). i relied heavily on the use of my hands to communicate in my broken spanglish translation of asking the kids what they wanted to do. here is an excerpt from a conversation i had with one of the ninos:
me: "Quieres sentir en el teeter-totter?"
nino: gives me a confused look.
me: "Oh! Oops! (after realizing sentir means to feel and sentar means to sit, i rephrase the question) I mean quieres sentar en el teeter-totter?"
nino: laughs, "si"
no wonder they make fun of us.

annabelle: "this is pretty much the most amazing sandwich i've ever eaten!"
mom: "that's becuase you didn't make it."

a natural high

i'm riding on this feeling i don't ever want to go away.

eventually isn't soon enough
